Auxiliary training often means working on leading elements of technique, such as the pull in the snatch and lifting the barbell to the chest, with plinths (barbell stands). Current plinths are generally bulky and unreliable, and primitive wooden or welded ones cause injuries and do not allow quick changes of regime.

The authors' welded plinth uses less metal than its analogues, is dependable and lets the regime be changed quickly. It has a base (1), upper post (2), rubber pad (3), locking pin (4), spring (5) and stiffening ribs (6).

An outer tube is fixed to the base by the ribs and an inner tube slides in it, carrying the upper post and the rubber pad, the working surface. A spring-loaded pin fixes the extension. Height above the platform is adjustable in eight 3 cm steps, from 25 to 45 cm. The device weighs 35–40 kg, is simple to make and can stand anywhere in the hall or at health camps.
